lowres: Lillian saved her spare change all winter long so that she could get herself a new bike in the spring. Unfortunately she hadn’t saved enough to buy the cute little yellow fixie she wanted, and had to settle for the only model she could afford. I’ve just been combing back through LRT comics trying to find a favorite. When I realized I had several tabs open, I decided to just knuckle down and pick one. This one still cracks me up. I’m not so much laughing at the punchline on this one as Angela’s pedals. If I remember correctly she reblogged this one and copped to the lack of engineering accuracy, which made me love it all the more, partially because now Lillian couldn’t even afford a bike with a crank, and partially because I can see Angela saying to herself, “This doesn’t look quite right, but it pleases me still.” Being a cartoonist myself, I appreciate the funny work isn’t done when the punchline is written. She manages to bring out subtle details that make a big difference. She’s clearly not just journalistically drawing Tony’s scenes, she’s making comedy decisions that sometimes add whole new dimension to each comic.  And Tony’s pretty OK, too. Clearly, you two make a great team. Thanks for your work. Last thing: I love the Peas.
